Internships! (Well, really internship, but with your help, that can change)
This past summer (May 2025-present) I worked at a company called EliteShare (鸿景领炫). My title was "Intern, Digital Media and Content Operations (新媒体内容运营 ) " but I honestly did a little bit of everything.
"Everything" includes:
- Full-stack analytical app building: I gathered the requirements, designed, implemented, tested, debugged, and deployed a content analytics application using R Shiny. Now in production use across the company.
- Researched international markets: Conducted research (e.g. career-consulting firms, Red Note job search trends, college applications, career outcomes with AI, etc.) to identify competitive gaps and growth opportunities.
- Crafted bilingual presentations: Developed and delivered comprehensive market-analysis decks in Chinese, synthesizing insights into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- Event planning & management: Supported on-site coordination at an international high-school career fair in Shanghai (30+ students), overseeing attendee communications.
- Content production: Interviewed high school and college students on their career exploration experiences; created content for social-media channels to boost engagement and brand visibility. Headlined weekly video series.
- IT Support: I dabbled with fixing basic tech issues my non-technical coworkers encountered - WiFi connectivity issues, connecting to printers, fixing printer problems, etc.
Separately, I also have done a fair bit of useful coursework ⬇
Coursework and Projects!
- Applied Bayesian analysis with Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) modeling to estimate value-at-risk (VaR) and expected shortfall for Costco stock.
- Collected, cleaned, and processed 3 years of historical stock data (March 2022 – March 2025) using R, applying advanced statistical techniques for risk evaluation.
- Produced a market risk forecast demonstrating potential downside exposures, integrating both quantitative modeling and financial interpretation.
- Nearest Neighbor and K-Nearest Neighbors
- Linear Regression and Gradient Descent / Stochastic Gradient Descent
- Binary Linear Support Vector Machines and their kernels
- Decision Trees and Random Decision Forests
- Neural Networks
- Convolutional Neural Networks
- Transformers
- Full stack web development: Created a copy-cat Amazon website, with features including searching products, adding to cart, checking out, adding balance, viewing transactions and selling/listing products. The tech stack included:
- HTML
- CSS
- Python Flask
- SQL
